The lid show made Saturday evening a treat. Not only for the great opening sound track by JOHNNY Rivers, but the creative exploits of the main character John Drake. At the time it followed the spy craze created by the 2 James Bond movies made just prior to the show's debut, Dr. No and From Russia With Love. What made this show different as well was several years after it went off the air on CBS, a spin off series was crest called "The Prisoner". The show gained rave reviews during a ST run. It picked on what happens to John Drake after he quits the British Secret Service.. Somewhat dated but still both shows are exciting TV fare. John Drake is a special operative for M19, specialising in security assignments against any subversive element which threatened world peace. 'Secret Agent' was the series that preceded Patrick McGoohan's 'The Prisoner'. Having seen 'Secret Agent' for the first time makes you understand 'The Prisoner' much more. The agent that resigned in 'The Prisoner' is probably John Drake of 'Secret Agent'. It was a brilliant espionage TV series with many ideas that were later seen in the 'James Bond' movies and 'Mission Impossible'. It was brilliantly written and played and although most of the episodes are in black and white, it doesn't make much difference as long as it is so fascinating and reliable. It really stands the test of time. Every episode is different than the other but they all involve spy games. The quality of the series exceeds anything we see today. So Patrick, why did you resign? OK. No big plug for HULU, but I did start watching the series there for that I'm thankful. Anyhow the show has a four part formula. 1. The mission or assignment. 2. Identify bad guys. 3. Introduce the femme fatale 4. beat up the bad guys/out smart them.(excellent writing by the way)<br/><br/>(Man!!)The fights scenes are layered with 6 to 10 seconds of jazz riffs, it brings a cool intensity to the fights. Standard fight scenes for the 60's(body doubles etc…)basic fight choreography, but I love the music!!<br/><br/>"Drake, John Drake"
